If you don't have anything nice to say . . .

Not everyone is a fan of painted furniture. I get that. I think it's fair to say that most that don't care for it, don't bother going into a store that focuses on painting furniture. I had a visit from an exception to that rule when I was working on this sideboard. I was sanding after the first coat of paint and was pretty happy with it, when a voice said, "Make up your mind; do you want the paint on or off? If you're going to sand it off, why put it on in the first place? You should have just left it alone." Then she left. I didn't say a word. Very unlike me, but probably a good decision. I think it's pretty. Hopefully, the customer I did it for agrees. :)

Free Cabinet Transformation

As always seems to happen, some customers seem more interested in buying my display cabinets than in pieces that are actually for sale. My Milk Paint cabinet was quite popular, but I had nothing else suitable to display the milk paint in, until a friend told me about a free china cabinet she knew of that was headed for the dump. It had great lines and was actually bigger than my current display, but it was filthy and reeked of smoke. Still, the price was right, and I had half a dozen people expressing interest in buying my current display, so why not paint this one up and use it instead? I cleaned the nicotine-stained glass and gave it all a half-hearted sand. There was no way I was going

Don't Replace, Update!

Updating an 80's bleached oak dining room suite. My client chose a beautiful fabric, and Miss Mustard Seed's Grainsack with white wax matches it perfectly. Only 6 more chairs, a buffet/hutch and huge table to go!
